The 4 day wedding of Carolyn and Raj took place in picturesque Johnson City, Tennessee. The weekend began with the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner at the groom’s parents home. They did a tent in the front yard and hung pink and white lanterns. The rehearsal dinner was a great time for both families to meet and socialize before the wedding.
The next day was the Catholic Ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic church. It was a lovely emotional ceremony. Following the ceremony everyone headed to Maple Lane Farms for a brunch reception. The farm was beautiful and so charming. The brunch took place in an indoor pavilion. The groom did a fantastic job with all the stationery including these place cards The owner of the farm had the most stunning bushes of peonies which he let me cut and I used them on the tables Mason jars for lemonade on straw mats completed the tables Up next the Garba and Hindu wedding and reception!
I just returned from a 4 day wedding in Johnson City, Tennessee, where I had the opportunity to work with the fabulous ladies of KIS3 Event Planning on my first Indian wedding! With the bride being from Guatemala and the groom from India, I was able to lend my expertise on the traditional American portion of the wedding, while learning so much about the Indian and Hindu wedding traditions.
I took lots of photos and have so much to share but it will take me a few days to get everything uploaded. In the meantime, I have to share the same day edit video from the extremely talented Still Motion. They worked hard to edit 3 days of footage so we were able to show this video at the reception. Still Motion is based out of Canada but travel the world for weddings. I’m definitely working to try and get them to Atlanta!
I hope you are having a great week! Sorry I’ve been missing in action this week. I went on vacation to Disney World with my family and now I’m in Johnson City, TN for a 4 day Indian wedding. I’ll be back next week with regular posts. In the meantime check out the right column for some of my favorite blogs to read.
Last night I had the opportunity to attend the grand opening celebration of the fabulous new Palomar Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. The hotel suites were open for us to look at. The beds looked so comfy! Here is a view of Atlanta from one of the corner suites And here is the Presidential suite Loved the chandelier in the dining room The theme of the event was ‘Art in Motion’, so they had these great performance artists in picture frames One idea I would love to do for a wedding is to have an artist paint a scene from the wedding. At the party they had an artist painting the hotel from the street My favorite part of the hotel is the outdoor terrace! The floor is marble with a pattern of grass in between. Here are the cabanas Definitely looking forward to doing a fabulous event on the terrace. Anyone interested?

Last week StudioWed participated in a bridal event at the Ellis, a boutique hotel located in downtown Atlanta.
The Ellis Hotel has a great event space perfect for intimate gatherings such as bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and small wedding receptions. Guests were able to tour the event space as well as the hotel rooms. They also have a great outdoor terrace overlooking Peachtree Street I love the funky chandelier heading up to the event space Guests were treated to cake bites from the Chocolate Pink Cafe who also displayed a fun cake design The design of the cake was inspired by an Emilio Pucci dress Flowers were provided by StudioWed vendors Tulip and Shosho Designs I Do Linens provided beautiful table linens The most yummy white sangria was served as well as appetizers
Thanks to everyone who came out – it was a great event!
The NotWedding is an alternative to a bridal show where they basically throw a big fake wedding, allowing the “wedding guests” to really experience some of the city’s top wedding vendors in action. You can read more about it, and see more photos, on the website and on the blog. Five “weddings” were represented, and each wedding had a bride and groom and a reception table, all consistent with each wedding’s theme. The themes were:
formal betsey (funky and hip), california picnic and palm beach The NotWedding is always a fun event to attend and experience. I look forward to seeing what they come up with for 2010!
This is a reminder to join us at the Ellis Hotel, located in downtown Atlanta, for an intimate bridal event, along with StudioWed and Chocolate Pink Cafe on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 6-8pm. Last week I attended a Spring luncheon given by the Atlantan Brides magazine. It was a lovely day for an outdoor lunch. I Do Linens provided the dramatic black and white table linens and Eventscapes provided the lovely spring floral arrangements. It was great to visit with my fellow wedding vendors. We got a sneak peek into the new issue of Atlantan Brides magazine and I can’t wait to see how the new issue comes together!
